East to West: 4 Days Till The Off

I’ve just taken the final batch of pasta off the dehydrator, meaning that we now have all of our evening meals cooked and dried. Moreover, the most difficult bit of the planning has been completed: I’ve come up with the food logistics plan (and Mick has spotted all of the mistakes (I hope)).

Not everything is going quite so well:

- The printer doesn’t want to play any more and we still have a few maps to print.

- Despite owning 15 pairs of walking shoes I only have 1 new pair and I’ve just realised, rather belatedly, that none of my other comfortable pairs have enough miles left on them to be useful. Four days to go is not the ideal time to be tracking down the right pair of shoes locally.

- I also only just realised, when I started getting my kit out and putting it in a pile, that my sleeping bag stinks. Too late to do anything about that either.

  2. Hitches are what makes the excitement! I'm excited too, I've got to be packed in 8 weeks and 2 days... If I had to make and dehydrate food aswell, I think my head would explode. Just noticed your new little map, doesn't look so far. Good luck and really looking forward to your reports and meeting you both!

  3. Hi Louise, I didn't think it looked so far either, which was why I thought tacking the TGOC on the end was a good idea.

As we approach the start date (T minus 4...)and Gayle is still re-plotting the route(s), I'm not so sure it was such a wise idea.

We seem to be approaching full-panic mode at the moment, which is par for the course and will, from experience, start to receed once we have completed our first practice-pack and realise that most of the bases are covered.

Looking forward to meeting you during the TGOC.

    Mick
