East to West Photos: Day 32

Wed 20 April (0645-1135) (Edinburgh to Inverkeithing)
Distance: 13 miles (Tot: 556)
Weather: fog

The curtailed views of the previous day had turned into full-blown (or rather not blown at all, but quite still) fog by morning. There was little to be seen as we made our way onto the Dalmeny Estate.

By the time we reached Dalmeny House (the lawns of which are part of another golf course) the murk had lifted enough for us to be able to see it:

We were able to see this nice sandy beach too, but when the tanker berth just half a kilometre off shore came weakly into view we could barely make out, with a bit of squinting, that there was a tanker berthed there.

Alas, any hopes of seeing the magnificent engineering of the Forth Rail Bridge were dashed. This is as much as we could see as we approached (look carefully, you can vaguely see some of the lower bits):

A cup of tea was called for in Queensferry, with the hope that the delay in our progress would give the fog a bit longer to clear in the hope that we would get a bit of a view from the Forth Road Bridge

As it went we couldn’t even see the pillars of the road bridge:

A quarter of an hour or so after getting off the other side of the bridge we were at Inverkeithing Station and a short time later we were on a train home for a week. Our journey was to continue from Inverkeithing Station just over a week later, after we had attended to our business at home.
