Not the best snap, taken badly and through a waterproof case, but I liked this one so much that I ventured up the driveway and asked the chap standing next to it if he minded if I took a photo. I think he was somewhat bemused by this odd foreigner who wanted a snap of his workhorse.
Before Alan gets here I'll tell you now:
ReplyDeleteIt's a 1960 Phase 1 Standard Vanguard (straight six)
The engine was very similar to the ones made by Standard for the Ferguson tractor that they were making in large numbers.
Alan will be pleased with that little snippet.
:-)
Well Alan at least you had a go. I can only guess about these little towing engines. Not really my forte. Most of these are made in the far east by small companies. Just looking at this one it could be European though. My guess is purely going off the colour, it may be a Fendt but usually Fendt have Red wheels. The wheels look new so they could be replacements from another supplier.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite right Fergy’s used a Standard engine for a time but still built them at Banner Lane Coventry.
It was a Ferrari - a fact which was much clearer from the other side (but I couldn't get a photo from that side).
