The Road goes ever on and on; Down from the door where it began;
Now far ahead the Road has gone; And I must follow, if I can;
Pursuing it with eager feet; Until it joins some larger way;
Where many paths and errands met; And whither then? I cannot say.

Who Was It?

As we were waiting for the bus out of John O'Groats this morning the photograph man left his signpost and came over to ask if the other three people had found us yesterday afternoon - three people who went and asked him whether we had arrived.

As I described yesterday, Steve came and found us, and he must have been one of the three.

But there was apparently another couple asking after us.

We have no idea who that might have been.

Who was it? We'd really like to know.

  1. Hi M&G,
    We are Fran and Margie from Berriedale, Caithness. We just popped up to JoG hoping to see and congratulate you both on your successful walk and your excellent blog. It was us who asked the photographer if you'd arrived yet but just missed you by about half an hour!
    All the very best,
    Fran and Margie

  4. Hello Fran and Margie,

    Thank you for trying to meet us and I'm really sorry that we missed you. My own fault for walking so ridiculously quickly (and making Mick do the same) for those last few miles!

    You know, as we walked in we were discussing the fact that we would be one of the few sets of end-to-enders who would walk into JOG without anyone there to meet us. We didn't even expect any family - and I'm really touched that people that we've never met made the effort to come along. So, once again, sorry that we'd gone off to celebrate by the time you arrived. We would very much have liked to have met you.

    Maybe next time...
