An inventory has been taken, and we’re in better shape than I thought. So far we have:
Beef Chilli x 9; Pasta Sauce x 9; Chick Pea Stewy Thing x 5; Lentil Stew x 5; Veggie Chilli x 8; Fish Risotto x 4; Turkey Curry x 4; Veggie Curry x 2; Thai Turkey x 4; Shepherd x 7; Chilli Prawn x 1
Only just over 30 more to go.
Thats a good few bags already :)
ReplyDeleteYoull wear out that machine I swear!
Eeek! I hope that neither of the dehydrators takes umbridge at the quantities and gives up the ghost. Even though we've only got 30 more meals to go, I couldn't contemplate the pain of going back to only one machine when working through these quantities!
ReplyDeleteOh by eck, just seeing this image brings back fond memories for me. I have a simliar image from my trip! My house was full of the smell of food for months during our mammoth dehydrating of 153 meals. Great fun!?
ReplyDeleteI sure you may have tried this, but I found dehydrated rice pudding a real luxury after a long day in the hills. I found it to dehydrate/rehydrate well. Just a thought?
ReplyDelete153?! Blimey! How many can you do at a time?
ReplyDeleteLast time around we did 100 meals, with only the capacity to dry 3 at a time. Given that we didn't start until just over 2 months before, that was quite a challenge.
There's nothing quite like waking up in the morning to a house smelling quite thoroughly of curry/chilli/tomatoey-herbs, is there?
I've only ventured as far as cooking main courses and accompanying staples thus far. Based on experience with risotto, I can see that rice pudding would work quite well - if I find the time, I might just give that a go. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteI have five trays for my Stockli dehydrator. I think it came with three and I bought two extra to speed things up a bit! All from backpackinglight.co.uk.
ReplyDeleteGetting near to your start? Looking forward to following your progress! Will you be blogging all the way?
Three weeks and a day before we set off down to Kent . We will be blogging all of the way, although being limited to one telephone network this time (I used a Pocketmail last time, which I could use with any phone), I anticipate that some posts will be held up pending a decent signal.
ReplyDeleteI take it you carry plenty of Loo paper! oops
ReplyDeleteThe Odyssee: Hmmm - I see your point given the menu...
