The Road goes ever on and on; Down from the door where it began;
Now far ahead the Road has gone; And I must follow, if I can;
Pursuing it with eager feet; Until it joins some larger way;
Where many paths and errands met; And whither then? I cannot say.

Anquet Maps - Again

Grrrrr.

(translation (close your ears Mother): F’ing Anquet Maps).

More LEJOG printing has been going on tonight. And more waypoints have been spuriously moving themselves. They were definitely in the right place when I plotted the routes. They were in the right place when I last looked at the routes. They were in the right place when I backed up the routes. Suddenly, when I came to print, 30 waypoints from one route had moved themselves onto a different route.

I really didn’t want to have to delete them and plot them again, but that’s precisely what I had to do.

Grrrrr.

  1. Hi Gayle
    I had exactly the same problems with Anquet.

    I tried emailing them with the problems - they take two days to get back to you and then they say you must be doing something wrong. With the first edition of Anquet this never happened - but the newer version was an absolute pig with loads of glitches like this.

    I volunteered to take my laptop down to them to get them to sort it out, but they countered saying that they would actually charge me for instructing me in how to use their malfunctioning product!

    Threatening them with trading Standards and mentioning terms like 'fit for purpose' brought them in line and they then tried to help.

    I wish I had never 'upgraded' to the newer version. I should have bought MemoryMap - they don't seem to have any of these probles you are encountering.

    It took me ages to get it to behave properly....

    Good luck!
    Alan

  2. The wonders of hindsight, eh?

    Had I realised when I was buying mapping software that I would end up using it to plot such a long walk, rather than just playing around on it for the odd daytrip, then I may have researched the subject more thoroughly. As it went, I now have to rue the fact that I bought based on price alone.

    I feel that there may be more rants had on this subject before the route planning and printing is complete!
