The Road goes ever on and on; Down from the door where it began;
Now far ahead the Road has gone; And I must follow, if I can;
Pursuing it with eager feet; Until it joins some larger way;
Where many paths and errands met; And whither then? I cannot say.

It’s A Sign!

Every now and then whilst out and about I spot a sign that amuses or intrigues me. Here’s a selection, all seen in the last year:

P5220051a

I had to trespass to get that photo.

P6070127a

A worrying sign to find on the path of a National Trail!

P9230183

From a distance I only saw the “Warning: Sheep Grazing” bit

P5130130a

Makes a difference from the usual “Forestry Operations Keep Out” sort of sign

P5140227

I’m pleased to say that the milk wasn’t served via a pump on the forecourt

P5160153

What is the world coming to? H&S instructions on how to use a ladder stile.

P5210211

As opposed to …

P5280075

I think I’m closer than the sign suggests (but, wow, do I look miserable there?)

P9190069

At least it wasn’t raining when I took it.

P9220169

Tea bags: that well known form of sanitary disposable…

  1. Nice collection - here's my personal favourite found whilst I was visiting a crocodile farm in Africa.

  3. Darn! Just realised that one of the pictures mysteriously disappeared. It'll just have to wait until my next collection. I'm sure that there'll be another collection - obscure/amusing signs do seem to be getting more common place.

  4. The rubbish bin only sign: as opposed to dog poo...

  5. Good answer. I hadn't though of dog poo as an option, and that would make sense. However, as the bin (and the sign) was in the ladies' toilets it seems unlikely that that's what was intended on this occasion.
